Car drivers with diabetes, blood pressure, asthma or illness for which they take prescription drugs, should keep a stock of their medicines in the car.

Dog bite & first-aid
Being bitten by a dog can bring scary thoughts of rabies infection, to many of us. In general, many people associate all dog bites with rabies infection. It is not so. A dog may bite, when it feels there is a threat to its position. Certain dogs are aggressive by nature and may bite at the slightest provocation. Whatever the case, here are some first aid tips to help you, if you happen to see someone being bitten by a dog.
Is every dog bite dangerous?
No, only a bite from a dog that is infected or carrying the rabies virus, is dangerous. Of course, suitable measures have to be taken to prevent the possibility of secondary infections by other bacteria or tetanus.
It is a common mistake to assume that every accidental dog bite can lead to rabies infection.
What should be done immediately after a dog bite?
First of all, the wound should be wiped clean of any saliva if the dog is suspected to be rabid (infected by rabies). The cloth used should be discarded and care taken not to touch the saliva. Instead, the wound should be washed well with soap and running water.
After drying, the wound should not be closed if it is a puncture wound, but it may be covered with a dry dressing if there is a cut or laceration.
The person should be taken to the doctor immediately.
Since there is a chance of being infected with tetanus, the doctor will administer an injection containing tetanus vaccine.
The owner of the dog should be informed and the dog taken to a Veterinarian immediately, to check for symptoms of rabies.
The dog should not be killed, but should be kept under observation for 10-15 days to see whether it develops symptoms of rabies. If it does not develop symptoms within 10 days, then chances are that it is not infected by rabies. In every case, a dog bite should be judged by its own merits. If there is a suspicion of the dog being infected with rabies, it is better to take the course of anti-rabies treatment to provide immunity against the disease.

MEDICATIONS:
the medications depend on the type of emergency.the dose also depends upon the individual and type of emergency.
a) ASPIRIN:
aspirin is recommended when an individual's risk of an ischaemic event (such as a myocardial infarction, MI) exceeds a certain threshold.it inhibits platelet aggregation and thus prevents clotting.
b) Hydro cortisone:
it can be given in various forms according to the need-intravenously,topically...
it is an anti inflammatory drug.
used for asthma, adrenal insufficiency, any kind of allergy,in septicemic shock....
c) Antihistamines - can treat allergies and allergic reactions, including life-threatening anaphylactic shock.
d) Epinephrine auto-injector (brand name Epipen):for anaphylactic shock
e) in case of Poison treatments :
Activated charcoal
Syrup of ipecac
f) Pain killers:
Ibuprofen - anti-inflammatory, often more effective that acetaminophen.

HOW TO SURVIVE A HEART ATTACK WHEN ALONE
Let's say it's 6.15p m and you're going home (alone of course), after an unusually hard day on the job. You're really tired, upset and frustrated.
Suddenly you start experiencing severe pain in your chest that starts to adiate out into your arm and up into your jaw. You are only about five miles from the hospital nearest your home. Unfortunately you don't know if you'll be able to make it that far. You have been trained in CPR, but the guy that taught the course did not tell you how to perform it on yourself.
HOW TO SURVIVE A HEART ATTACK WHEN ALONE:
Since many people are alone when they suffer a heart attack, without help, the person whose heart is beating improperly and who begins to feel faint, has only about 10 seconds left before losing consciousness.
However, these victims can help themselves by coughing repeatedly and very vigorously. A deep breath should be taken before each cough, and the cough must be deep and prolonged, as when producing sputum from deep inside the chest.
A breath and a cough must be repeated about every two seconds without let-up until help arrives, or until the heart is felt to be beating normally again. Deep breaths get oxygen into the lungs and coughing movements squeeze the heart and keep the blood circulating. The squeezing pressure on the heart also helps it regain normal rhythm. In this way, heart
attack victims can get to a hospital. Tell as many other people as possible about this. It could save their lives!!
A cardiologist says If everyone who gets this mail sends it to 10 people, you can bet that we'll save at least one life.

Quick relief from insect bites
- Wash the affected area with soap and water. Then apply an antiseptic.
- Rub the affected area with the inside of a banana skin. It reduces swelling and irritation.
- Applying honey (preferably raw) immediately after a bee sting will avoid pain.
- Tea tree oil, derived from the leaves of the native Australian Melaleuca alternifolia tree, contains antiseptic compounds that make it a powerful disinfectant. Apply in full strength.
